How your text is protected
Real cryptography, run locally by your browser — no servers, no accounts, no copies.
AES-GCM encryption
Your text is encrypted with AES-256 in GCM mode — an authenticated cipher, so it not only hides the message but detects if anyone tampers with it. Decryption simply fails if the code was altered.
Key from your password
Your password is stretched into a strong key with PBKDF2 and a fresh random salt, so even a short password resists brute-forcing. A new salt and nonce are generated every time you encrypt.
All in your browser
Everything runs through the browser's built-in Web Crypto engine. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored — close the tab and it's gone. You can even use it offline once the page has loaded.

Is my text really private?
Yes. The encryption and decryption happen entirely inside your browser using its built-in Web Crypto engine — your message and password are never uploaded to DriveBird or anyone else. Only the encrypted result leaves your screen, and only if you choose to share it.
What happens if I forget the password?
The text is gone for good. Strong encryption has no back door — without the exact password there is no way to recover the message, not even for us. Store the password somewhere safe, and share it with your recipient through a separate channel from the encrypted text.
How do I share encrypted text with someone?
Encrypt your message, copy the result, and send that blob however you like — email, chat, even printed. Your recipient opens this page, pastes the blob, enters the same password and clicks Decrypt. Share the password separately (say it in person or over a call), never in the same message as the encrypted text.
